FAQs

Is an apple cider vinegar rinse good for your hair?

Yes. An apple cider vinegar rinse like the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser is good for most hair types when you use it every two weeks. Apple cider vinegar is mildly acidic, so it helps balance the scalp's pH and lift away buildup from hard water, styling products and excess oil that shampoo alone can miss. Our rinse pairs it with Aloe Vera, Nettle Root, Comfrey Root and Plantain for a calm-feeling scalp, and with Avocado Oil and Panthenol, so hair is left soft, shiny and easy to style.

What does hard water do to your hair, and how does the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser help?

Hard water leaves minerals like calcium, magnesium and iron on your hair, and the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser helps lift them away. Over time, that mineral film makes hair feel heavy, rough and dry, makes it look dull or brassy, and keeps your conditioner from working as well. The apple cider vinegar in this rinse helps dissolve mineral deposits and product residue, while Avocado Oil and Panthenol soften and smooth the strands. After rinsing, hair feels lighter, looks shinier and responds better to conditioner.

Can hard water cause hair loss?

Hard water is not a proven cause of true hair loss, but it can make hair dry and brittle, so strands snap more easily and the breakage can look like shedding. The Vinegar Rinse Cleanser helps by lifting the mineral and product buildup that weighs hair down, while Horsetail and Guava Leaf Extracts help strands look stronger. Use it every two weeks and follow with a good conditioner. If you notice sudden, patchy or heavy hair loss, talk with a doctor or dermatologist to find the cause.

How do I use the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser?

Use the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser right after you shampoo. Shake the bottle well, then apply an adequate amount to your wet hair and scalp. Massage gently from the roots to the tips and leave it on for one to three minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water until no product is left, then follow with your conditioner for the best results. If you use a hair serum or leave-in treatment, apply it after the rinse, when your hair is clean and ready to absorb it.

How often should I use the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser?

Use the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser once every two weeks. That keeps your scalp fresh and your hair free of buildup without drying it out. If you have very hard water, heavy buildup or brassiness, you can use it once a week for a short time, but avoid weekly use for long periods, because more frequent use can dry out the scalp and hair. On the days in between, wash with your regular shampoo and conditioner.

Will the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser remove my hair color?

No. The Vinegar Rinse Cleanser is color safe. It lifts away the mineral and product buildup that can make colored hair look dull or muddy, but it is gentle and non-stripping, with no sulfates or harsh chemicals. Once that dulling film is gone, color often looks brighter and more vibrant. To keep your color looking fresh, use it every two weeks, rinse with warm rather than hot water and follow with a conditioner.

Is the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser good for oily, dry or curly hair?

Yes. The Vinegar Rinse Cleanser works well for both dry and oily hair, and for curly, color-treated, fine and thick hair too. On oily hair, it helps clear excess oil and residue, so the roots feel fresh and clean. On dry and curly hair, it removes the buildup that blocks moisture, so your conditioner works better, while Avocado Oil and Panthenol keep strands soft and defined. Whatever your hair type, follow it with a conditioner and use it every two weeks for the best balance.

How do I remove product buildup from my hair and scalp?

An apple cider vinegar rinse like the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser is an easy way to remove product buildup from your hair and scalp. Styling creams, dry shampoo, oils and hard water minerals can build up into a film that leaves hair flat, dull and greasy at the roots. After shampooing, massage the rinse into your scalp and hair, leave it on for one to three minutes and rinse well. Repeat every two weeks, and use lighter styling products in between to keep buildup from coming back.

Will the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser leave a vinegar smell in my hair?

No. The Vinegar Rinse Cleanser is not formulated to leave a vinegar scent in your hair. You may notice a light vinegar aroma while it is on, but its essential oils, including Tea Tree, Manuka, Peppermint, Rosemary, Lavender, Clary Sage, Cedarwood and Lemongrass, give it a fresh, herbal scent. Once you rinse thoroughly with warm water and follow with your conditioner, the vinegar smell goes away and your hair is left smelling clean and fresh.

Is the Vinegar Rinse Cleanser the same as the Hard Water Rinse Hair Detox?

Yes. The Vinegar Rinse Cleanser and the Hard Water Rinse Hair Detox are the same formula; Hard Water Rinse Hair Detox is the newer name. Both use Apple Cider Vinegar, Aloe Vera, Nettle Root, Comfrey Root, Horsetail and Guava Leaf, with Tea Tree, Manuka and Peppermint Oils. Our Vinegar Nutritive Rinse Cleanser is a different product: a scalp-focused formula with a larger blend of roots and herbs, like Dong Quai, Fo-ti and Licorice. All three are color safe, sulfate-free and 100% vegan.

Especially Good For White Hair.

I have been using this product for over a year. It makes my scalp feel great and it rinses clean and not tangled. I have a well and if the rust filter stops my hair changes color. I use the mineral removal product and this and it brightens up my hair. I also get the filter fixed.

This product is not doing what it says. It is actually making my silver hair much more blond and brassy looking. Expensive haircare that does not perform.

Brassy

It did nothing for me. My hair is still brassy yellow. I’m a natural blonde maybe that. Is the reason. I’m not sure why my gray has brassy tones

Hi Debra, thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sorry the rinse didn't meet your expectations. Gray hair can sometimes be tricky to tone, and natural blondes might respond differently. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like personalized tips or alternative products to help with brassy tones. 💜😊

Fading yellow

I am still waiting for the rinse to fade the yellow, but gray is very nice.

Thank you for sharing your experience, we’re glad to hear your gray is looking nice! The Vinegar Rinse Cleanser is mainly designed to remove buildup and minerals that can contribute to dullness or yellowing, so the brightening effect can be gradual. If the yellow tones are more stubborn, our Purple Toning Shampoo may provide stronger neutralization while the Vinegar Rinse continues to help keep buildup under control. 💜😊

Nicole

I have purchased the shampoo, conditioner, vinegar rinse and the spray for setting /styling, and I’m sorry to say it’s not for me. I find it makes my hair yellow and dirty looking. My hair is pure white - I thought your product would make it shiny and healthier. I’m really sorry but I’d love to return it if you would let me, for a refund? I tried and wish I could give it a positive review. Thanks …

Silver hair brightened!

I got near immediate complements because the silver in my hair was suddenly so pretty. My daughter-in-law thought I had my hair stylist add highlights! My hair is brighter and more manageable now. I use the leave-in conditioner too. It's like my teenage hair just showed up. It's wavy and soft.

Weekly Treat For My Hair

I have been using the vinegar rinse cleanser for years. I use it once a week as a treat for my scalp and hair. It has made such a difference in how shiny, soft and manageable my hair is now. I also love that it’s made with all natural ingredients. I guess I’ve gotten used to the vinegar smell over the years because I don’t even smell it anymore. I do love the difference it’s made.

Yellow in white hair.

I first contacted you to see if the women who had complete white hair were models or actual women who had successfully used your product and no longer had yellow in their white hair. It was confirmed they were actual clients. I went and purchased product and cannot get yellow out of my hair!
