What is hair lotion?

A hair lotion, like the Dry Hair Lotion, is a light, creamy leave-in moisturizer that you smooth through damp hair after washing and do not rinse out. It is lighter than a hair cream or butter, so it adds moisture and softness without weighing hair down, and richer than a spray, so it helps with dryness and frizz. Ours blends flower waters with butters and oils, so hair feels soft and looks smooth and shiny.

How do I use the Dry Hair Lotion?

Start with clean, damp, detangled hair and divide it into small sections. Rub a small amount of the Dry Hair Lotion between your fingers, then smooth it through each section from the roots to the ends. If your hair is fine or thin, apply it from the mid-lengths to the ends only. Style with your fingers rather than a comb to reduce frizz. You can also add a little to dry hair during the day for extra softness.

Can you put lotion on your hair?

Body lotion is not made for hair and can leave it greasy or coated, but a lotion made for hair, like the Dry Hair Lotion, is a great leave-in moisturizer. Hair lotions are designed to spread through strands, absorb without heavy residue and add slip, softness and shine. Ours is made with Shea and Mango Butters, light oils and Hydrolyzed Jojoba Protein for dry hair. Use a small amount and add more only where hair feels dry.

Is hair lotion the same as hair milk?

They are very similar. Hair milk is usually a thinner, more fluid leave-in, while a hair lotion, like the Dry Hair Lotion, is a little creamier, but both add moisture and softness without the weight of a cream or butter. Ours is lightweight enough for daily use and rich enough for very dry ends. If your hair is fine, use a smaller amount on the mid-lengths and ends only, so it stays light and bouncy.

How can I moisturize dry hair?

Moisture is added with water and held in with oils and butters, so a good routine has both steps, and the Dry Hair Lotion makes the second step easy. Wash with a gentle, moisturizing shampoo, condition every time, and apply a leave-in like ours to damp hair. Seal the ends with a little oil or butter, sleep on a satin pillowcase, use heat tools less often and try a hot oil treatment once in a while.

How can I protect my hair from chlorine?

Before swimming, wet your hair with clean tap water and apply a leave-in like the Dry Hair Lotion, so your hair soaks up less pool water. Wear a swim cap when you can. After swimming, rinse right away, wash with a gentle shampoo and condition, then apply the lotion again to damp hair. Chlorine can leave hair dry, rough and tangled, and regular moisture helps it stay soft and manageable through swim season.

Is the Dry Hair Lotion good for curly or color-treated hair?

Yes. The Dry Hair Lotion works on all hair types, including curly, wavy, straight and chemically treated hair, and it is safe for color-treated hair. Curls tend to be drier, so they often love a creamy leave-in: apply it to damp hair, scrunch gently and let it air-dry or diffuse. On color-treated hair, its butters and oils help ends feel soft and look shiny. Use a little less if your hair is fine.

Will the Dry Hair Lotion make my hair greasy?

No, not when you use the right amount. The Dry Hair Lotion is weightless, so it moisturizes without a greasy or heavy feel. Start with a small amount, rub it between your fingers to spread it evenly and focus on the mid-lengths and ends, where hair is driest. If your hair is fine or your roots get oily quickly, keep it off the scalp. The Cetyl Alcohol in the list is a fatty alcohol that softens and does not dry the hair.

A little goes a long way

I have used this on my hair now for a few week. It does help with the dryness but I have learned a little goes a long way, I have fine curly hair and if I use too much it weighs my hair and curls down.

Really great product for my color treated highlights

Really great product for my color treated highlights. It isn't heavy or greasy and doesn't have a strong smell, which I am sensitive to in other products.I would highly recommend, especially those with hair that likes to grow in the humidity. I also put a little dab on the wispy hairs around my temples to help them lay flat and it doesn't look wet.

Put it in a tub!!

This product is very good, but the hefty price tag verses the amount given is not worth it. For this price this product should be in a tub and a hefty tub at that! As the customer I should be able to scoop out my desired amount and with it being in a tub i can every drop, thus getting my true money's worth. Please reconsider putting this in a tub and adding more for the same price.

Smell but has results

I have a very hard time finding the right mix of moisture and light weight product for my fussy hair. I've been using this for a week now with good results . If your hair is over-processed, damaged or naturally dry, you need to use this product. My hair is naturally kinky, but I use a texturizer to make easier to handle day by day. I apply the product concentrating on the areas of breakage hence my ends and midshaft. It infuses moisture to my hair without the greasy residue. I see breakage is an issue of the past as I see less hair on my scrunchies and combs.
