Product Description

By the end of the day, your scalp can feel dry, tight, and a little forgotten. Nightly Scalp Massage is a scalp massage oil made for the last five minutes of your evening, and for the long, quiet hours after it.

As an overnight hair oil, it stays on while you sleep and washes out in the morning. Seed and fruit oils lead the formula: Apricot Kernel and Jojoba moisturize a dry-feeling scalp, Sea Buckthorn brings rich conditioning, and Hazelnut, Grapeseed, Olive, and Avocado Oils soften every strand they reach. Nettle, Horsetail, and Burdock Extracts round out the blend with herbal care.

Rosemary, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, and Lavender give it a warm herbal scent many people find calming at bedtime. It's a rich oil for scalp massage, so a little goes a long way, whether you're after a scalp oil for dry scalp or softer lengths while you grow your hair out.

FAQs

What is the Nightly Scalp Massage?

The Nightly Scalp Massage is a scalp massage oil with 19 botanicals, made to be massaged into the scalp at bedtime and washed out in the morning. It moisturizes a dry-feeling scalp and conditions the hair, leaving it soft, smooth and shiny. It is made with Apricot Kernel, Hazelnut, Jojoba, Grapeseed, Olive, Sea Buckthorn, Avocado and Aloe Vera Oils and Thyme, Nettle, Horsetail and Burdock Extracts, with Rosemary, Cedarwood, Cypress, Lemongrass, Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Orange Peel Oils.

What oil is best for a scalp massage?

Look for an oil that spreads easily, stays on long enough to work in with your fingertips, and keeps strong essential oils blended into carrier oils rather than used straight. The Nightly Scalp Massage is built that way: a base of Apricot Kernel, Hazelnut, Jojoba, Grapeseed and Olive Oils, with Sea Buckthorn and Avocado Oils for rich conditioning and essential oils blended in for scent. Use only a little, since a blend this rich goes a long way.

Is it good to massage your scalp with oil?

For most people, yes. A regular scalp massage feels relaxing, eases the feeling of tension in the scalp and spreads oil evenly, so the scalp feels moisturized and hair looks soft and shiny. Doing it with the Nightly Scalp Massage adds conditioning from 19 botanicals, and many people find it a calming part of their bedtime routine. Use a small amount, and skip it if your scalp is irritated or sore.

Is the Nightly Scalp Massage a good scalp oil for dry scalp?

Yes. If your scalp feels dry, tight or itchy, a nightly massage with this rich blend of seed and fruit oils moisturizes the skin under your hair, so it feels soft and comfortable. Apricot Kernel and Jojoba Oils lead the formula. Start with a small amount two or three nights a week. If you notice flaking, redness or soreness that doesn't settle, see a dermatologist.

Can a scalp massage oil make hair look thicker?

It can make hair look fuller. Hair that is moisturized and well conditioned has more softness, shine and body, so it looks fuller and healthier. The Nightly Scalp Massage conditions the scalp and hair with 19 botanicals, and the massage itself is a relaxing habit. No oil or massage can change how your hair grows. If you notice sudden thinning, patches or heavy shedding, see a doctor or dermatologist to find the cause.

How do I massage my scalp?

Shake the Nightly Scalp Massage well. Before bed, section dry or damp hair and pour a small amount into your palms. Starting at the front of your scalp and working toward the back, use the pads of your fingertips, not your nails, to press and move the skin in small circles, section by section, for about 5 minutes. Use light to medium pressure; it should feel good, never painful. Smooth any oil left on your hands over your hair, then leave it on overnight and wash it out in the morning.

How often should I use the Nightly Scalp Massage?

Start with the Nightly Scalp Massage once a week and increase as your scalp and hair need it, up to every night for intensive care. Many people enjoy a short massage each night as part of their bedtime routine and wash the oil out in the morning. If your hair is fine or gets oily quickly, two or three nights a week may be enough. You can also use it as a pre shampoo oil, left on for 2 to 3 hours before washing.

Can I leave the Nightly Scalp Massage in overnight?

Yes. The Nightly Scalp Massage is made to be used as an overnight hair oil: massage it into your scalp at bedtime, then cover your hair with a plastic cap and a silk or satin scarf or bonnet to protect your pillow and keep the oil in place. In the morning, wash with a gentle shampoo, using two rounds if needed, then condition as usual. Use a small amount, and skip it if your scalp is irritated or sore. If you prefer not to sleep in oil, leave it on for 2 to 3 hours before washing.

Can I use the Nightly Scalp Massage as a pre shampoo oil?

Yes. If you'd rather not sleep in oil, massage it into your scalp, smooth what's left over your lengths and leave it on for 2 to 3 hours before you wash. It softens and conditions the hair before shampooing, so it feels smoother afterward. Shampoo twice if your hair still feels oily, then condition as usual. It's an easy option for a weekend morning or any evening you have time to spare.

Will the Nightly Scalp Massage make my hair greasy?

It is a rich oil, so it will feel oily while it's on, which is why it is made to be washed out. Use a small amount on the scalp, not a palmful, and cover your hair overnight to protect your pillow. In the morning, one or two rounds of a gentle shampoo remove it. If your hair is fine or gets oily quickly, use it two or three nights a week instead of every night.

What does the Nightly Scalp Massage smell like?

It has a warm herbal scent from its essential oils: Rosemary, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Cypress, Lemongrass and Orange Peel, with no synthetic fragrance added. Many people find it calming as part of their bedtime routine. The scent is noticeable while the oil is on and washes out with your morning shampoo. If you are sensitive to essential oils, try it on a small area first.

Can men use the Nightly Scalp Massage?

Yes. The Nightly Scalp Massage works for men and women and for all hair types. It is easy to use on short hair and buzz cuts, where the scalp is easy to reach, and on hair that looks thinner. A few minutes of massage at night is a relaxing way to end the day, and a satin pillowcase or cap keeps the oil off your bedding. It comes in 4 oz. and 1 oz. sizes.

Is the Nightly Scalp Massage vegan, and does it contain nut oils?

The Nightly Scalp Massage is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, never tested on animals, and made with plant-based ingredients only. Every ingredient is listed on this page. It contains Apricot Kernel and Hazelnut Oils, so if you have a nut allergy, check with your doctor before using it. Its essential oils are strong, so keep it away from your eyes and try it on a small area first if your skin is sensitive. It is made in the USA by Just Nutritive, a family-owned company making natural hair and skin care since 2007.

As advertised

I’ve been using Just Nutritive products for a long time. They’ve become some of my holy grail, must haves. As I’m growing out a very short pixie cut, I wanted to both speed up the process, and ensure my hair stays healthy as it grows. This scalp oil has done the job as advertised. I’ve been using a few times a week, massaging in before bed. The most obvious benefit so far is less hair fall. That’s my biggest problem. I have lots of hair, but I lose so much. The bottle says it’s weightless, but that isn’t true for me. I use at bedtime and wash out in the morning.

Wow! Soothing!

Only used 3 days ago but I'm going to use weekly from now on! My scalp was so relaxed after using using the scalp massage oil. I suffer with Fibromyalgia so my scalp, neck and shoulders are always tight! After one use, I could feel my scalp give way and relax! The oil & massage really works!

My hair and scalp loved it

My hair and scalp really loved the pampering. My dry scalp and hair really drank in the moisture and was much softer after shampooing. Using it daily was too much but twice a week keeps my hair shiny and soft and younger looking. I left it on overnight covered. I shampoo in the morning and that worked great for my schedule. Yes a great scent too.

Absolute Favorite

I work a very stressful job and as a result, my hair started falling out in clumps especially in the shower. I bought this out of desperation and now, I live by it. The loss has been essentially reversed and just applying it helps me take a breather from the long days. Very pleased.
