  • Winter Skin Care

    October 24, 2025 2 min read

Winter is the time for family, hot chocolate and snowball fights. Unfortunately, winter also wreaks havoc on our skin making it dry, chapped and scaly.

Here are some helpful tips that will keep your skin moisturized and healthy all winter long.

    1. Wash with lukewarm water

Hot showers and baths can further strip the skin of its natural oils. Use warm water when washing your face and body to preserve the skin’s natural oils.

    2. Moisturize the skin

The skin needs moisture right after you wash your skin. Apply your moisturizer to damp skin to help seal in the moisture.

    3. Choose a moisturizer that works best for your skin

Use products that are free of petroleum based products and that have natural nourishing ingredients. Go for an oil based moisturizer that will help retain moisture in the winter.

A few products that would be great for the dry skin are:

    • Skin Calming and Moisturizing Cream
    Skin Calming and Healing Lotion
    Winter Skin Care Protector
    Nutritive Body Cream
    Nutritive Facial Cream
    Nutritive Facial Lotion

    4. Protect

Cover your body with protective clothing like gloves, scarves and hats to protect your skin from the cold wind, snow and rain. Do not forget to apply sunscreen as the winter sun can be as damaging as the summer sun.

    5. Humidify

Purchase a humidifier. It will put back moisture in the air and will prevent the skin from drying out.

    6. Drink more water

Add more water to your regimen. During the winter, we are accustomed to drinking hot chocolate and teas but you cannot forget to drink water as well. Drinking some warm water with lemon can be refreshing and hydrating.

    7. Overnight Moisture

Your hands, feet, elbows and knees lose moisture faster than other areas on the body. Try applying a heavy cream or balm that will moisturize these areas at night and wear gloves and socks while you sleep.

    8. Exfoliate

Exfoliate your skin once a week to remove dead skin. Your skin cannot get the sufficient moisture it needs if you do not exfoliate. Use an exfoliating mask that you can use on your face, lips and hands and then follow up with your favorite moisturizer. A good scrub for the body is our Turbinado Brown Sugar Body Scrub

    9. Avoid Irritating Fabrics, Allergens and Toxins

Winter can aggravate your skin especially if you have eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis. Avoid chemical laden detergents and irritating fabrics (wool). Apply mild cleansers and moisturizers for sensitive skin.

    10. Eat foods that will provide you with glowing skin.

Consider eating food full of vitamin A, C, E. These vitamins will stimulate collagen production, protect skin cell membranes and nourish the skin while protecting it from the damaging UV rays.

    Some foods to consider –
    Olive Oil
    Grapefruit
    Avocado
    Carrots
    Broccoli
    Almonds
    Spinach
    Green Tea
    Salmon
    Dark Chocolate

Winter is the best time of the year and we want you to look great while you enjoy all of the holiday festivities.

Stay Happy, Stay Beautiful and Stay Warm.
