Tips for a Healthy Scalp

Tips for a Healthy Scalp

Posted by Valeria S. on Dec 4th 2018

Without the proper care, your scalp would have no chance of growing long, healthy and voluminous hair. It is at the scalp where you can find the root of many hair problems like thinning, balding and brittleness. Not to mention, without some TLC some people can develop dandruff or a dry itchy scalp. Below are some tips to help you build a good scalp regimen.

head massage

#1 GIVE YOURSELF A GOOD MASSAGE

You can do this in the shower while you shampoo or find some time before or after going to bed, just make sure to do it at least once every day. Use the tips of your fingers and massage in a circular motion all throughout your scalp. This will increase blood flow, which will feed your follicles and help to distribute the natural oils of your scalp. These oils are meant to keep your hair lubricated to avoid breakage and dryness.

#2 HANG UPSIDE DOWN

I know this sounds funny, but this is the most effective way to get blood to your head. Just a couple of minutes every day should be enough to make a difference. An easy way to achieve this is to lay on your bed in a way that you can let your head off the side. Or if you’re body allows, take a couple of minutes to stand in a forward fold.

#3 REMOVE BUILD UP

Build-up forms from extra oil, dirt, and product that can accumulate in your scalp. Normal shampoos are unable to take this off. But products like our  Vinegar Rinse Cleansers and our Shampoo to Remove Build-up are formulated just for this. Build-up is different from person to person; some people don’t have to worry about it. But if you do, it is important to take care of it as it can clog your hair follicles and prevent your hair from growing at a normal speed. Often this single problem is what causes hair loss.

#4 USE A SCALP MOISTURIZER

If you suffer from dryness at the scalp, there are products that can help. You may have to explore your options before you land on the perfect product for you. At JustNutritive, we offer cream based and oil based scalp products. A good way to tell which one to choose is by comparing how the skin on your body works. If it likes oil based products or cream based, your scalp will most likely respond equally to a moisturizer.

#5 NOURISH YOUR SCALP

Sometimes your scalp will need some extra help with getting the nourishment it needs. As we age, our body is naturally less likely to be able to distribute as much nourishment to the highest area of the body as it once did. For that reason, it is very common to loose and experience changes in our hair as time goes by. However, there are many ingredients found in your kitchen that can help you. To name some: Rosemary, Olive Oil, Aloe Vera and Eggs. Consider using one of these as a natural treatment once per week.
